Cargo thieves targeted a Southern Florida street lined with vehicles, breaking into every van and taking thousands in tools and equipment. One plumber's van on that street stayed locked. Why? Because he had a LEGEND SecuriLock fitted to each door, keeping the thieves out and his possessions protected. This solution works for fleets running Sprinter, Transit, ProMaster and Savana.

The padlock problem

One van break-in costs trades fleets $5,000 to $20,000

A single overnight break-in costs your fleet far more than the stolen tools. The replacement bill is the easy part. The hard part is the job your crew can't complete the next morning, the customer who has to be rescheduled, and the day of revenue lost while three people stand at the parts counter trying to rebuild a $4,800 toolkit from memory.

Multiply that across an entire crew, an entire route, and a few incidents per year. The math gets ugly quickly. Insurance covers some of it. Insurance also raises premiums after each claim.

Puck locks were designed for an era before cordless angle grinders fit in a backpack. Today a thief who knows what they're doing slices through the bracket holding a puck lock in under 30 seconds. Fleet managers in trades, delivery, and utilities are quietly upgrading to permanent-mount locks because the old hardware no longer earns its place on a commercial vehicle.

How SecuriLock works

Designed around the four ways vans actually get broken into

SecuriLock was engineered by LEGEND, the upfitter that has been outfitting commercial vans for trades, delivery, telecom, utilities, and rental fleets across North America and the UK since 2018. Each of the four solutions below addresses a specific attack vector documented by fleet managers who switched to SecuriLock after losing tools to standard hardware.

01Stolen tools and equipment
Anti-cutting, anti-drilling steel body.A weatherproofed steel housing rated to withstand grinders, drills, and physical tampering. The body is the lock, not a sleeve around one.
02Locks get cut off the van body
Permanent fitment to the door body.SecuriLock bolts directly through the van door. There is no internal bracket. There is no exposed gap between the lock and the door for a tool to attack.
03Keys get copied, cylinders get picked
One-of-a-kind high-security keys. Each lock ships with 3 keys, keyed alike but unique to that set. The cylinder structure resists duplication and pick attempts. A locksmith tested ours, failed, then bought a SecuriLock for his own van.
04Driver closes the door, forgets to lock
SlamLock auto-engages on close. The SlamLock variant locks every time the door is shut. The DeadLock variant gives drivers the option to disengage between stops for delivery routes that require constant in-and-out access.

SecuriLock vs puck locks

Why puck locks fail and SecuriLock holds

A puck lock is secured to a van using metal brackets bolted to the inside of the door. Those brackets are the weakest point in the system. A 30-second pass with a cordless grinder cuts the bracket, the puck falls away, and the van is open. SecuriLock removes the bracket entirely. The lock body bolts directly through the door, eliminating the attack surface puck locks rely on.

"The lock we had was a hockey puck lock. They just sliced it and got right into the truck. We got these new Legend locks. Everything has been good since then. Puck locks are a joke. They shouldn't even be selling them."

Stopped tool theft after puck locks failed

Magnolia was running padlock and puck-lock combinations on a D.C. fleet getting hit repeatedly. Thieves were slicing the brackets in seconds. After installing SecuriLock across the fleet, the break-ins stopped.

Even a locksmith's own van runs SecuriLock

Richter LockWorks, a certified journeyman locksmith company serving Calgary and the surrounding area, runs SecuriLock on their own fleet. When thieves came for the locks, they did not get in. The break-in was stopped before anything was taken.

The math is simple

For the cost of one impact driver set, you upgrade to a lock that saves your fleet thousands.

A new impact driver set
$200 – $400
A single van break-in
$5,000 – $20,000

Add the insurance premium hike after each claim, the day of revenue lost while the crew rebuilds their toolkit, and the customer rescheduling that compounds across the route. SecuriLock is the cheapest upgrade you will make to your fleet this year.

Installation

Get SecuriLock on every van without slowing operations

Pick the install path that fits how you run. Neither option takes a van off the road for more than two hours, and your service routes keep moving while the rollout happens.

01

Your own shop or upfitter

Your installer handles it using the standard kit. Plan about an hour per door on the first van. Once your tech is two or three vans in, it drops to 20 to 30 minutes per door. LEGEND ships the full hardware kit, the install template, and the anti-corrosive paint.

02

LEGEND's certified upfitter network

Hand LEGEND your VIN list. The certified upfitter network coordinates the install across your fleet on a schedule built around your service days. No queues, no vans waiting around for a slot.

What ships with every SecuriLock

Lock body (SlamLock or DeadLock variant), adhesive install template, all mounting hardware, anti-corrosive paint, 3 high-security keys keyed alike per set, and a dust cap for cylinder protection. Your installer brings the standard cutting and drilling tools.

Common questions from fleet managers

Answers before you have to ask

Is SecuriLock really different from a puck lock, or is this marketing?
It's structurally different. Puck locks attach to internal brackets that a cordless grinder cuts through in seconds. SecuriLock bolts directly through the van door body. There is no bracket. There is no exposed surface between the lock and the door for a tool to grab. Drivers also can't forget to put it back on at the end of a stop, because it's permanently fitted.
SlamLock vs DeadLock. Which one does my fleet need?
SlamLock auto-locks every time the door is closed. The key is the only way back in. It's the right choice for fleets in high-crime areas or carrying high-value cargo. DeadLock lets the driver disengage the auto-lock for stop-heavy routes (last-mile delivery, parcel runs) and re-engage when needed. Most trades fleets use SlamLock. Delivery operators usually prefer DeadLock.
How long does installation actually take?
First install per door, plan for about an hour. Two hours per van. Once your installer is two or three vans deep, a single door drops to 20 to 30 minutes. We documented a 160-van fleet that hit that pace across the entire fleet once the workflow was set.
What happens if a driver loses every key?
Send LEGEND a photo of the serial number from the warranty card. New keys cut to that serial are made and shipped immediately. You don't need to replace the lock body.
Will SecuriLock perform in cold or salt-heavy regions?
The body is chemically treated with zinc nickel for cold and salt resistance. The included dust cap blocks ice, road spray, and salt from entering the cylinder. The only ongoing recommendation: avoid spraying water directly into the cylinder during wash-down. No issues reported from fleets in Calgary, Detroit, Chicago, or other winter-heavy regions.
Is there an emergency release?
Yes. SecuriLock includes an emergency release pin that conforms to various state regulations and applicable laws.
What's included in the box, and what does my installer need to provide?
Included: lock body (SlamLock or DeadLock), adhesive install template, all mounting hardware, anti-corrosive paint for the under-lock application, 3 high-security keys, and a dust cap. Not included: installation tools. Your shop or upfitter brings the standard cutting and drilling kit.
